farmhouse // our bedroom

before we got married & i moved in, this was Thomas's room, so i don't have many before pictures. i did find one picture of the mantle, so i could show you the color it was before we got married. this is the only room that we painted before we got married. it was a really pretty green beforehand & we liked the color. however, we wanted a darker color for our room. since it had been his room before, we wanted to make the room feel different since it would be our room now & we wanted it to feel more "us'.

our bedroom has got to be the hardest room to take a picture of! the fact that the room is small & the position of the doors do not work in my favor. i got enough decent pictures to give you a feel of what our room looks like in its entirety.

i believe the before color is a Charleston green. the after color is called Juniper Berries - it's a dark teal color. it looks more greenish in this picture, but in real life it's more of a blue-ish. either way, it's a really pretty color & we love it a lot! i love having a mantle in our bedroom, too! you're probably wondering why we have a mantle in our bedroom, though, and that would be a good inquiry! when Thomas bought the house, this room was actually the dining room - see through door & all. they changed out doors & he made this one of the two bedrooms. i'm pretty sure that this room was always a dining room & they just had an fireplace in it, because there's also a closed in fireplace in our living room, just not a mantle.

i don't have pictures of the whole room before & after, but you can kinda get the feel for it just from the mantle pictures. i'm not going to call my husband out for being a slob, because he really isn't. he's one of the cleanest guys i know & if he starts on a cleaning spree he's gonna finish it - even if that means staying up cleaning until 2am the night before my parents come over for the first time (as a hypothetical example). but, with me being almost an hour away during our engagement & having surgery that kept me at home for a month, he was barely at his house to clean it. & when he did clean, his bedroom was last on the priority list. so, this room had a complete makeover & it looks so awesome now! (besides the fact that we desperately need to redo the flooring!)

  2. I like what you've done! The "before" color is bit too much for me but the new one is divine!

  3. It is so hard to take pictures of small rooms! But I really like the color you painted it and the fact that the mantel is so much more orderly now! :)

  6. That color is amazing! I usually don't go for super bold colors, but it looks amazing with the character of the room and how you have it decorated. :)
