passport to fun // London, England

this past weekend we did our Passport to Fun date for May! London is one of my favorite cities & i feel legit when i say that because i've actually been there! i would really like to travel there with Thomas sometime and experience the city together, but until then this will have to do! (at the bottom of this post, i've included some of the pictures i took while i was there!)

if we were really in London, we would definitely be exploring around the city all day! so i thought for this date it would be a lot of fun to actually go out and get English food! there is a pub in our city called The Velo Fellow and we have been wanting to try it out for a while now!

i put together an itinerary for our day to give to Thomas that morning. it includes London Underground directions for Thomas to meet me, explains all the sights we would see, our lunch and dessert plans, and i even included a real tube map and ticket from when i was there! i thought this would be a fun little twist since we wouldn't be doing the date at home!

we went to The Velo Fellow and got fish and chips! it was a really cool atmosphere and really did feel like a London pub. we picked up some scones on the way home & enjoyed some Twinings tea with them, because nothing says England like stereotypes! plus i got to talk in an English accent and that is always fun! i also have some pictures from when i went to London, so we got to take our picture in front of Elizabeth Tower/"Big Ben"! (fun fact: Big Ben is actually the name of the bell inside of the tower, not the tower itself.)

after our day of exploring, we came home and watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban! Thomas actually suggested it, and that made me really happy! he hasn't read the books & hadn't seen the movies until we started dating and we watched them together. it is fun for me to be able to talk to him about HP now and him actually know what i'm talking about! we are working on watching the movies all the way through a second time so he can get to know the story a little bit better!

after the movie, we flipped through a book i have called "Timeless London" - it's a history of sorts of the city and has tons of awesome pictures from all over London. looking through the book made it feel like we really had explored the city!

what's your favorite thing about London?

Haven't been to London since last summer - normally go once a year soi think I'm du to visit now! I want to go see Dirty, Rotten Scoundrels in the Savoy Theatre this year.

  6. That date sounds like perfection! The hubs and I just returned home from London a few weeks ago and it was such a cool place! Looking at your pictures made me want to go back ASAP. Oh, and the fact that you talked in an English accent makes me think you are awesome! I did that a lot while we were there :)

  26. Oh I miss the pubs in England! I lived on the south coast of England for a few months when I was 18 and did some travelling around the country and I just regret that I didn't do enough research to really know what I was looking at. I mean, I went around to all the touristy things but I wish I would have read more of the history before. It's definitely a place I want to go to again and bring Jared!

  27. What a cute date idea! London was one of my favorite cities on my husband's and my trip to Europe last year (mostly because they spoke English and it was easy to navigate). Way to stay creative and curious without even having to leave town! I'm impressed!
