NOTE: i changed the name from "instaweek" to "week recap" because i am no longer using purely instagram photos. probably no one besides me would've noticed - but i felt like explaining!

highlights from my week:
- my mom gave us one of her daylilies a few months ago & we finally got our first blooms from it! i am not really a plant person but this one is low maintenance so it works well! plants where you basically just have to ignore them are my kinda plants!
- July 2 was two years since my grandfather passed away - it's hard to believe that it has already been two years. it's crazy how time just keeps passing & doesn't miss a beat. i remember finding out while i was at the beach with Thomas and his family. we weren't even engaged then, but he took me to Target to buy some funeral clothes & drove 8 hours round trip to get me to the funeral. he's pretty much amazing! :)
- did you know that i work at a Japanese company? well, i do! :) the administrative assistant sometimes brings in fun little Japanese candies! the ones pictured were a little cookie/donut thing and it was good! it's always fun to try different things - once she brought back green kit kats from Japan and they were delicious!
- as matron of honor, i'm helping plan a bridal shower for Jenna! i volunteered to do the invites because sending pretty mail is so much fun! :) i put the invites together this past weekend & will mail them off today!

- Thomas's grandfather had pneumonia and was in the hospital since last Monday night. Thomas's parents are out of the country on a mission trip & so there were just a few of us able to take turns staying with him. we went by every night after work & stayed overnight twice this weekend as well. luckily we both had friday off of work but it has been an exhausting weekend!

ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing week you've had. And what a precious tribute to your grandfather. It's been nearly 5 since mine has passed, and I can't believe it. How sweet of Thomas to be a comfort to you during that time! I found out about mine while away at college while I was in class...and it is one of the most painful memories I have...I felt so alone.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet of Thomas, though. <3 Praying for you during this anniversary. Xoxo
Daylilies are my favorite flower! Mostly because they are so low-maintenance but still look beautiful. Yours are stunning!
ReplyDeleteHope you get some rest after a long weekend. I'm glad you can both be there for his grandfather xoxo Hope he heals quickly!
ReplyDeleteremembering those we have lost is always a hard time - I hope that you found some good in the day! <3
ReplyDeletehello other bridal shower planning buddie!! I wanted to send the invites out for the same reason!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your grandpa is sick. I'll pray for him and for your family. Also, those Japanese treats are AWESOME! I saw that picture and was wondering what they work. I want to hear more about the company you work for. I think they should send you to Japan on a business trip =) You can tell them your blog friend recommended that. ha ha
ReplyDeleteoh, how fun!!! this is my first time being the matron! (and actually the only other wedding i was in was my sisters 9 years ago!) i am so excited! the wedding is November 22 so it's getting closer! when is the wedding that you are matron in?!
ReplyDeleteisn't it crazy how time doesn't really seem to pass that quickly, but then it's crazy to think about how many years ago something happened! i bet that was so hard to find out in class! i would be a puddle!
ReplyDeletethank you so much Jenna! i appreciate the prayers! :) and Thomas is so sweet - i got a good one! :)
yes, me too! they are so pretty & i don't really have to do a thing! :) thank you! i love the dark color!
ReplyDeletethanks Caroline! it is great that we could be there for him! i know it was draining on my husband though! he actually got to leave the hospital and go back to the nursing home so we hope he continues to improve!
ReplyDeletethank you sweet friend! <3
ReplyDeleteit is the best part! :) when is the shower you're planning?! oh it is so fun! i think i have more fun helping plan a wedding that isn't mine!
ReplyDeletethank you sweet friend! Japanese sweets are so fun! you never know what you're going to get (cause i can't read the package)!
ReplyDeleteYES! i completely agree! i would LOVE to go to Japan! my husband read that comment and said "no way!" haha! but i think you have a brilliant idea!!
This is the first one I'm a matron too (and I've only ever been a bridesmaid once). This wedding is on July 20--sooo soon! I'll be posting our bachelorette adventures at the end of this week, and I have the bridal shower pics on the blog too.
ReplyDeletewow! that is soon!!! have so much fun!
ReplyDeletegoing to check out your posts :)
ah! that is so much fun! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy how time keeps moving at the same pace when you lose someone. It's almost like your world stops but everything is still moving around you. I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa, it's never easy losing someone you love.
ReplyDeleteI love trying new foods, its fun that you get to try new things through work frequently! Stopping by from the coffee date link up :)
