monthly goals | January

this year i decided to list out my goals & have them all in one place in order to help me be more intentional about getting things done. i don't know that i'm going to do a post on the blog each month, but i would like to. it's good to have them all in one place to reference & since this is on the internet, it's some sense of accountability.

my mantra is that "nothing changes on new years day except the date" and i really do love that quote. there is nothing special about January 1st & most of the time i don't feel different when a new year starts. a date doesn't change who i am, but it's inspiring because it's me who can change things about my life, no matter what day of the year.

but this year, January does really feel like a refresh. Thomas's job ends mid month & we aren't sure yet what the next step is. so this year, January is the beginning of a new adventure and it really does feel like a blank page.

purge & simplify
i have been wanting to do this for months, but we have been so busy with the holidays that we only got a little bit done. however, in the last month we got a few new pieces of furniture for our house so now we need to do this more than ever. we've been trying to figure out how to fit everything into our almost 1,000 sq ft house & not have a lot of clutter. it's a huge goal but i definitely want to make some major progress on it this month!

spend time reading
i didn't have a lot of time to read in November & December, so i really want to make some headway on all the books i've got going this month. i normally don't read one book at a time - i usually have a few going that are different kinds of books. right now, i'm reading The Nesting Place, From Tablet to Table, and Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire. so no matter what mood i'm in, i have a book that fits it!

Thomas & i are also doing a Bible reading plan to read the entire Bible in one year! this is something i've never done so i put it on my 30 by 30 list! we are carving out a half hour before we go to bed each night. it will be neat to read through the whole Bible together!

plan out DIY Christmas gifts
don't roll your eyes at me! we are planning on making all of the Christmas gifts we give this year (this is on my 30x30 list also), so we want plenty of time to work on them. we didn't want to wait until the fall & then rush to get through them. we want to make quality gifts that people will enjoy so that takes preparation & time! all i'm hoping to accomplish this month is to brainstorm gifts for each person.

what are you hoping to accomplish this January?

  1. Hi Robyn, more reading is also one of the thing I plan to do this month. The main thing I want to accomplish is to land myself a decent job. All the best for both of us!

  2. Reading through the Bible in a year is a great plan! I have read through the Bible before and loved it. Right now I'm planning to re-read all of the New Testament (sorry, but I can't take any more Leviticus or Numbers without wanting to stab myself in the eye or something haha)
