Savannah | Georgia

to celebrate our second anniversary, we found an awesome rental in Savannah, Georgia to hang out in for a few days. after exploring St. Augustine we headed to Savannah to check in. the rental is an apartment above a detached garage that included a private hot tub and access to their private dock.

we made it to the rental just in time for sunset the first night. so we headed out to the dock to watch & it was such a gorgeous sunset. then just as we were about to go inside, Thomas noticed dolphin fins in the water so we got to watch dolphins swim by in the sunset. it was really neat!

the next day we took advantage of the fact that we could sleep in & rested in the morning. we walked around downtown near the college before lunch & then took an afternoon nap. there aren't many days when we can take afternoon naps so that was nice. that night for dinner we went to the Crab Shack & got to feed gators from a line. so neat!

after dinner we walked down River Street on the cobblestone & got a dark chocolate caramel apple as an anniversary treat. because caramel apples are the only way to celebrate your second anniversary! ;) the next day on the way out, we spent a few hours at the Oatland Island Wildlife Center where we got to see tons of animals & feed a donkey! overall, it was a quick but fun trip to Savannah!

oh, and the hot tub was a nice treat at the end of the day. well, the first night was really nice, but the second night was a different story. it was basically attack of the palmetto bugs! i'm not sure if palmetto bugs live elsewhere, but they are basically huge roaches & they fly. one landed on Thomas's back and he shot up to swat it off so fast. then he proceeded to take his sandal and beat at the ones crawling from the stairs, yelling when they ran towards him. i hopped out to put my towel on, laughing so hard at Thomas, then one flew into my neck so i freaked out. it was very entertaining but we probably woke up the entire neighborhood!

have you ever been to Savannah? if not, you need to make a trip there! :)

yes!!! it's an armadillo! i think it was a 9-banded one so it's larger than the ones we have around here! & i see the donkey smiling too!!! it's one of my favorite pictures! i tell myself he's smiling b/c we had just got done feeding & petting him! :) haha
